Mr. Nandedkar is a novelist, poet, lyricist, script writer, blogger and an advertising publisher, who currently lives in Indore, Madhaya Pradesh. He is post graduate in English Literature and now is a professional author with his first book out, others following soon. Here is a step to know him and his dreams a bit more.

  1. When did you decide to become an author?

To be true, becoming an author was a long cherished dream. It was in class 12th when I decided that I would write a book one day. Then I did my Graduation and Post Graduation in English Literature and stepped into the advertising world. The dream of writing a book took a backseat owing to the pressure of building a career. After spending almost 12 years in the ad field, I thought, now it’s time to take the plunge. For almost 2 years, I followed the routine of working in the day and writing in the night. Slowly, page by page, word by word, ‘For the Smile of Your Eyes’ took form.

  1. What interests you in other authors?

I take inspiration from a lot of authors, be it international, national or regional language authors. I observe how they spread out their stories, the characterization, the pace and many such technical aspects. As my stories are built around emotions, I try to learn and imbibe how they heighten the emotional impact.

  1. What inspired you to write this book, “For the Smile of Your Eyes”?

With changing times, the feeling of love has also experienced a lot of change. Now a days, I feel, the word ‘I’ has stepped into our relationships. Things like convenience and calculations have come into play.

In such a scenario, I wanted to write a story, that celebrates the true and classical essence of love which is giving – giving without conditions, calculations and expectations…giving anything, and, everything to bring a smile to the eyes of your loved one. This is the inspiration behind ‘For the Smile of Your Eyes.’

4. Did the book turned out the way you expected it?

I would say, I am happy with the way it has turned out to be. The fact that readers are loving it too, the story is touching their hearts, gives me a lot of satisfaction.

  1. Being an author is a hard thing in India, why did you still decide to be one?

I agree being an author is a bit tough in India. But once you have a story inside you, you just cannot hold it back. And I like to see the bright side of things. I think the habit of reading is on the rise again. More and more people are taking to books and that is a very heartening sign.

Here, I would also like to express my great appreciation for you. With your little library, you are playing such a big role in making books a part of people’s life.

  1. What was the most difficult challenge for you being an author?

The biggest challenge for me was balancing my day job with my passion. I think every author has to face it at some point in his or her life.

I would say that I am very fortunate to have a supportive family as well as supportive employers, who graciously gave me time and space whenever I required it. But yes, this was the biggest challenge and I am thankful to the Almighty that I could overcome it.

  1. Both of your characters have a haunting pasts and big dreams, what inspired you to create these characters?

I believe that the characters are the sole of any story. They should be able to connect with you, make you like them, love them, cry for them, root for them. They should be able to establish a pure emotional bond with the readers. This was the thought process behind the two characters Riley and April. Their haunting past and big dreams was the bridge to the hearts of the readers.

8. Any next book coming up soon?

Yes, absolutely. The fabulous response for my first book has given me confidence that there is an audience to my emotional stories. The next book is in progress and will be out in a few months.

  1. Tell us about your next book a bit.

My next book actually is woven around a small poem that I had written a few days back. It says ‘Every heartbreak gives you a choice. Some choose darkness, some choose light.’ The book will deal with the issue of heartbreak, which unfortunately has become so common in today’s times. The book will be full of warm emotions, positivity and light, with characters everyone can relate to.

…….so, this was a little talk with Mr. Nandedkar. Thanks to him to give this sweet response over my questions and thanks for his book and i hope the next come out soon.

P. S: Any questions from the readers are accepted, in fact I’d love to ask your questions to him.
